Melanin Made celebrates Black History everyday, but this month we will be honoring a special individual daily for their contributions to the black community.

Carmen Denise Taylor was born in Akron, Ohio on March 19, 1955. Since a small child she has always had a passion for helping others. Ms. Taylor relocated to Hampton, Virginia and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Hampton Institute and later obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in nursing from Hampton University and a Masters degree in Management with a concentration in Nursing from Troy University.

As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and president of the Virginia State Conference NAACP, Ms. Taylor continues to devout her life to fighting for civil rights and the economic empowerment for people of color.
